Alvina R. Frisch

Alvina R. Frisch, age 100, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at The Orchards Retirement Center in Armada, Michigan. Alvina was born March 25, 1923 in Royal Oak, Michigan, the daughter of Oscar & Rose (Czeslawski) Schnell. At the age of 7 the family moved to Armada. Alvina married John F. Frisch on January 15, 1949 at St. Mary’s Mystical Rose Catholic Church in Armada after which they moved to their long-time farm in Allenton.  He preceded her in death on November 12, 2011. During WW II, Alvina worked at Twist Drill in Rochester Michigan; she was a true Rosie the Riveter!After her children got older, Alvina worked at the IGA grocery store in Almont in the 1980’s and into the 1990’s. She was well known for her vegetable canning ability and her delicious baking. Along with her family, she was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Allenton, where she was a member of its Altar Society.

Alvina is survived by her 4 children: Sharon (Karl) Cressman of Farmington Hills, MI., Carol (Dan) Sachs of Perrysburg, OH., Bob (Patti) Frisch of North Street, MI., and Marilyn Zajko of Almont. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John, along with brothers Raymond & Harold Schnell.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Parish (883 Capac Road, Allenton MI, 48002) with Fr. Michael Gawlowski officiating.  Burial will follow alongside her husband John at the West Berlin Cemetery in Allenton.  Visitation will be on Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 2-8PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home with a Rosary Service at 7 PM. Burial will follow at West Berlin Cemetery.
