Donald Wayne Herriman, age 90, a 7 1/2 resident of Romeo and formerly from Lake Ann and Sterling Heights, passed away on March 24, 2018 at Angelica’s Place in Romeo, MI. Donald was born April 28, 1927 in Whittemore, Michigan, the son of William and Bernice (Smith) Herriman. He married Frances C. Sluyter on July 29, 1950 in Albion, Michigan. Donald served for two years in the United States Navy during WW II. After the Navy, he moved to Detroit, Michigan and began his career at Chevrolet Gear & Axle where he worked for 34 years, retiring from Hydromatic in Warren, MI. Donald was faithful in everything he did. His “hobbies” were working on cars, helping others in whatever way he could, and faithfully serving his Lord. After retirement, he went on numerous mission trips to Peru, Kosovo, and Guyana. Donald was preceded in death by his wife Frances on March 29, 2014 and survived by his children: Robert W. of Panama, Central America, Alan K.(Valerie) of Berkley, MI., Debbie J. (Joseph) McRoberts of Washington, MI., Janet R. (Gerrit) Kidd of Addison Twp., MI., Stan J.(Dana) of Gastonia, NC., and Carol S. (Michael) Verville of Clarkston, MI. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and his brother Ronald of Lapeer, MI. Donald was preceded in death by his sister Ruth Herriman. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 27 from 2-8 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 28 at the First Baptist Church of Washington Township with Pastor Phil Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
