George H. DeBruyn, age 85, of Armada Township passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan. George was born in Washington Township on May 14, 1933, the son of Karel and Emma (Templeare) DeBruyn. After serving his Country in the Army, he married Grace Ann Malburg on June 1, 1957 at St Lawrence Catholic Church in Utica, Michigan. George retired from the Romeo Ford Proving Grounds in the early 1990’s after 23 years as a test driver. Along with their family, they were lifelong truck gardeners at their Armada Township farm. George has many interest, from being a member of the Armada AMVET’s, the Berville Lions, going hunting, riding his snowmobile, but mostly being with his many grandchildren, children, and countless friends. George is survived by his wife Grace, children: George H. (Gail) of Armada Township, Jean M. (Michael) Godo of Capac, Arlene A. (Ron) Delmotte of Armada Township, Joyce C. (Andrew) Swiacki of Armada Township and Barbara J. (Matthew) Konarski also of Capac, MI. Grandchildren include Renee, Amy, Gina, Steven, Donald, Brian, Henry, Robert, Andrew, Emily, Stephanie, Jessica, Abigail, Rebecca, and Leanna. Great grandchildren include Raeleigh, Jayde, Josephine and ?. (to be determined soon). George was preceded in death by his sister Joyce Thorman. Funeral services will take place on Monday, May 21at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home at 11 AM with Fr. Mike Gawlowski from St Cornelius Catholic Church of Dryden officiating. Burial will follow in the West Berlin Cemetery in Allenton. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-8 PM with a 7 PM Rosary at the Funeral Home and on Monday from 10 AM till the Funeral Service starts at 11 AM also at the Funeral Home. George will be buried at West Berlin Cemetery on Monday following Funeral Service. Donations to “Rising Star Academy” will be appreciated.
