Agnes Lillian (Beste) Malburg Janicki, age 83, a resident of Ray Township since 1989 and formerly from Almont, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. Agnes was born July 20, 1935 in East Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Wancour) Beste. She married Henry J. Malburg on November 7, 1953 at St Veronica’s Church in East Detroit and he preceded her in death on December 10, 1985. She then married John Janicki on March 4, 1989 at St John’s Catholic Church. Agnes was active in the Altar Society at St John’s Catholic Church in Allenton for many years. When she married John, she became a member of St. Clement Catholic Church of Romeo. She taught religious education in both parishes for 30 years, enjoying 7th graders until she was 75 years old. Her life was her family and sharing her faith. She was well known for her baking ability, especially her cinnamon rolls and her custard and rhubarb pies and fights were always had over who gets the leftover potato salad. She hardly ever missed a birthday party and went to many grandchildren’s athletic events. While raising her seven children she also helped with field work along with cooking and cleaning for everyone. She was an avid reader and enjoyed checking Facebook to see what everyone was doing. She is survived by her husband John of Ray, children: Rose (Pat) Miller of Bruce, Henry (Belle Ann) of Dryden, Marie (Larry) Sheridan of Webberville, MI., Don (Angie) of Bruce, Tom (Lori) of Romeo, Susann (Matthew) Young of Saranac, MI., Karen (Mike) Marcath also of Bruce, Debbie Alfonsi, Jeanine (Eric) Vincent and John Janicki Jr all of Ray Twp.. Also survived by siblings: Pat (Dan) Schwarz of Armada and Tillie Hessell of Shelby Twp. Also survived by 28 grandchildren & 31 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by John’s son in law Mark Alfonsi and siblings: Leo, Francis Denewith, Edward, Mary Provost, Sister Delores Beste and Theresa VanThomne, Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 11 at 10 AM at St Clement Catholic Church of Romeo. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-8 with a 6 PM Scripture Service and on Monday from 2-8 with a 6 PM Rosary. Burial will take place at West Berlin Cemetery in Allenton, Michigan. Donations to the Capuchin Retreat Center would be appreciated.
