Albert L. (Lew) Trimble, age 83, a 40 year resident of Bruce Twp., and formerly from Birmingham, Mi., passed away on Monday, Feb 18, 2008 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. Lew was born Oct. 19, 1924 in Huttonville, Ontario, Canada, the son of Colin L. and Eva (Troyer) Trimble. He married Carmeline (Sally) Gilchrist on April 22, 1944. Lew worked many jobs during his lifetime. Lew served in the Canadian Army from 1943-1946, then went to work in 1948 at Rceme Army a foundry and pattern maker in Toronto, he then started work as a industrial pattern maker with the Moffatt Manufactoring Company which then started a branch in Detroit and that is when Lew and Sally moved to Birmingham. Lew then started work at Ford Motor Company's Design Center in Dearborn where he worked until 1980 at one of its chief designers with both current and concept cars. He spent 1976 in Australia where he redesigned the Ford Falcon, Fairmont, and LTD. Upon retirement, Lew worked part time at Creative Industries in Auburn Hills where he worked on designing the gondola for the Goodyear Blimp and and its support vehicles. He also helped do design work on General Motor Vehicles, Freightliner Trucks & Kenworth Sleeper trucks while working at Creative Industries. Along with his wife Sally they enjoyed traveling and being active members with the Romeo Masonic Lodge # 41. Lew is survived by his wife Sally of Romeo, grandchildren Alisha Trimble of New York and Dustin Trimble of Santa Anna, California. Also survived by siblings Shirley Gould, Charles Trimble, & Victor Trimble all of Canada. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday at 7 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with the Order of Eastern Star #19 of Romeo and then followed by the Romeo Masonic Lodge # 41 officiating. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 2-7 the hour of service. Donations to the Eastern Star would be appreciated.
