Alfreda Gordon, age 95, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2018 at Romeo Orchard Grove Assisted Living, surrounded by family. Alfreda was born May 22, 1922 in Hamtramck, the daughter of Ludwig and Michalina (Penska) Galazka. Alfreda’s parents both immigrated from Poland in 1912. She graduated from high school in 1940 and married Frank Gordon on August 3, 1946 in Hamtramck. They lived in Hamtramck and Detroit until 1965 when they moved to a new home in Warren. She was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church and a widow for over 50 years. Alfreda lived in the Warren home until 2015. Since that time she has lived in Tennessee with her daughter Darlene and most recently at Orchard Grove Assisted Living in Romeo. Alfreda had a zest for life and was always full of energy. She looked forward to welcoming visitors, both friends and family, with warm meals and lots of love. She was bold, honest, and humble along with a healthy dose of stubbornness. You never had to wonder where you stood with her. She was very feisty, direct, and always willing to share her view of situations. She was a strong woman, loving mother, devoted wife, and a wonderful Grandma. She mowed her grass and shoveled her snow until age 90. Alfreda is survived by her children, Darlene (Paul) Beadle of Richmond Township and Lynn (Tom) DeMann of Texas, and Grand children, Renee (Jeremy) Kooyer of Grand Rapids, Dale (Halie) DeMann of Texas, Nicole Butler of Tennessee, Nicole (Dennis) Mrosewske of St. Clair Shores, Cheryl Beadle (Brian Snyder) of Washington state, along with 16 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, brothers Marion and Alfonse Galazka, and sister Hattie Lefchick.
