Alvin Rex Gregersen, age 77, a 38 year resident of the Romeo area, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital Center. Rex was born December 30, 1931 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, the son of Jens and Marie (Hansen) Gregersen. Rex was a sheet metal worker until retirement in 1997. He belonged to the Sheet Metal Local # 80 in Detroit. He worked on the sheet metal for air conditioning and ventilation systems on many buildings in the metro Detroit area, mainly working for the E.W. Ensroth Company in Warren, MI. He had many hobbies including fixing anything that he found broken, cooking, making his world famous cheesecakes, belonging to his beloved choirs, first at Our Redeemer in Washington Twp., and currently with the choir at Grace Lutheran Fellowship in Bruce Twp. Rex loved to help others, especially his church friends and joined the Stephen Ministries to further help and was in the Navy during the Korean War. Rex is survived by his children, Nels (Connie) Gregersen of Washington Twp., Susan (Jamie) Bruyere of Armada Twp., and Don Bartz of Romeo. Also survived by grandchildren Adam and Kirsten. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, his step son Daniel along with siblings Jens, twin brother Allan, Nels, & Marie Stamm. Memorial services will take place on Thursday at 11 AM at Grace Lutheran Fellowship with Pastor Eric Majeski officiating. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 2-9 at the Henry M.
