Barbara Ann Silvernail

August 20, 1945 — September 27, 2022

Barbara A. Silvernail, age 77, passed away on September 27, 2022. Barbara was born on August 20, 1945 in Fort Pierce, Florida. Daughter of Willard C. Bonnett and Norma A. (Schilke). Barbara was born weeks before World War II ended, she was separated from her biological father and raised by Norma and Robert Dode Sr., in Downers Grove, Illinois. After details of the war were declassified, Barbara was contacted by extended family she didn’t know she had. Her brother Tommy did the research, then found her and invited her to meet the rest of her family. It was publicized, and a blessed reunion for all. Barbara learned that her father was one of the Navy’s First Special Warfare Commando. He was sworn to secrecy and he honored that.

Barbara was a hard worker and had a variety of jobs. Dog grooming was a passion for awhile, and she was a proud owner of two Afghans and a miniature Schnauzer (Shasta, Sataa, and Shelter). She moved to Texas and enjoyed being a college bookstore manager for years. She also worked in office personnel for International until she retired.

Barbara liked scrapbooking, socializing, and listening to music. Carlos Santana was her favorite. She also loved animals, especially her cats.

Barbara is survived by her daughter Kerry, her sisters Dawn Kaegebein (Dode) and Connie Fralix (Bonnett). Brothers, Tommy Bonnett, Ricky Bonnett, Robert Dode Jr. Also, Aunt Margaret Crosby and Uncle Jack Bonnett.

Neice, Amanda (Kenny) Strzempa, Nephew Collin Kaegebein. Great Neice, Olivia Kaegebein.

Preceded in death by her son Michael Joseph Tipler in 2017, and her sister Jeanette Dode.
