Florence Elizabeth “Beth” Carr, age 87, a resident of the Romeo area for over 50 years, passed away on Thursday, June 9 2011 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan. Beth was born April 18, 1924 in Highland Park, Michigan, the daughter of Perry and Mildred (Peterson) Norton. Beth was a graduate of St Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in Marquette, MI., and during WW II, was in the Army Cadet Nursing Program in Illinois. Upon moving to the Romeo area, Beth was active with the Romeo United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the Church Choir & President of the Romeo Chapter of the United Methodist Women. She was also the Girl Scout leader in Romeo. After raising her family, Beth worked at Glen Eden Hospital in Warren for over 15 years. Upon retiring, along with her husband Art, they traveled to all 50 states, to Europe, and spent many Winters in Venice, Florida where they enjoyed their new found friends. Beth was an accomplished artist, loved to paint, and be with her family, especially her grandchildren. Beth, along with her family were lifelong University of Michigan fans. Beth is survived by her husband of 63 years, Arthur of Washington Twp. children: David & Roger Carr both of Berkeley, California, Janet (Keith) Radak of Ypsilanti, MI., and Mary (David) Fullilove also of Berkeley, California. Grandchildren include Amy (Mark) Powers, Lisa (Chris) Lenaway and one great granddaughter Lia Powers. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday at 11 AM at the Romeo United Methodist Church of Romeo with Dr. Gary Glanville officiating. Burial will take place on Wednesday at 11 AM at Great Lakes Veteran Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Romeo United Methodist Church would be appreciated. Arrangements by the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo, Michigan. Visitation on Sunday from 5-8 and on Monday from 2-8 PM.
