Betty Jane Sharp, age 85, a 17 year resident of Utica and formerly from Detroit, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at her daughter's house in Almont. Betty was born in Detroit on September 26, 1923, the daughter of Arthur and Irma (Hartman) Hoffmeyer. Betty retired after 17 years as Hudson's Department Store lead waitress at its store in Lakeside Mall. She previously worked at Northland Hudsons as its lead waitress and had worked at Kresge's as a waitress before that. Her hobbies were decorating her house for various holidays and being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty was also a longtime member of the Eastern Star in Detroit. Betty is survived by her daughter, Connie (Charles) Kindred of Almont and her son Dennis (Susan) Sharp of Livonia. Her grandchildren include Raymond, Donald, & Wendy Kindred, Suzanne (Simon) Bradin, Megan (Chris) Thomas and Kristen Parrish. Great grandchildren include Olivia, Tallulah, Savannah & Logan. Betty's brother Raymond Hoffmeyer of California also survives. Funeral services will take place on Monday at 11 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with Dr. Gary Glanville, Pastor of Romeo United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley, MI. Visitation will take place at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo on Saturday from 6-9 and on Sunday from 3-9. Donations to the charity of your choice in member of Betty would be appreciated.
