Betty Lou Roberts, age 73, of Almont, passed away at her house in Almont on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. Betty was born July 24, 1935 in Pontiac, MI., the daughter of Kenneth and Marjorie (Hopkins) Rocker. She married Melvin Thomas Roberts at Walled Lake, MI., on October 21, 1955. Betty graduated from Walled Lake High School, class of 1954 and then graduated with her B.S. Degree from Michigan State University. She worked for many years as a health care professional as their secretary in the Almont area. She worked for Dr. Kathleen Wells & Dr. Charles Avery at their dental clinics and previously worked with Dr. Clara Bishop. She belonged to the Thumb Area Home Economists, Romeo # 19, Order of the Eastern Star & the Imlay City High Steppers. Her hobbies included reading, needlework, quilting, dancing, and working in her garden. Her greatest love of all was being with her family and especially her grandchildren & great grandchildren. Betty Lou is survived by her children: Steven (Cheryl) Roberts of Boyne Falls, MI,, Jerome (Gail) Roberts of Almont and Shari Gardner of Fostoria, MI. Grandchildren include Dan, Nick, Nate, Laura, & Jennelle along with 5 great grandchildren. Her siblings include Dean (Lorna) Rocker of Vestaburg, Mi., Carol Rocker of Almont and Anne (Peter) Sears of Harbor Springs, MI. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 11 AM at the First Congregational Church of Almont with Pastor Keith Langley officiating with burial to follow at the Furguson Cemetery in Almont. Donations to the Easter Star Grand Chapter, Abrams planetarium at MSU or to the Almont Library would be appreciated. An Eastern Star service will be on Friday night at 7 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo, MI. Visitation will be on Friday from 3-9 PM. Visitation: Friday from 3-9 Services: Saturday at 11 AM at the First Congregtional Church in Almont Interment: Furguson Cemetery in Almont
