Calvin F. Welch

Calvin F. Welch, age 85, a lifelong Romeo area resident, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the Village Rehabilitation & Care Community in Armada, MI. Calvin was born May 12, 1926 in Romeo, MI., the son of Allen and Mary (Upleger) Welch. He married the former Nyla Fox in 1947 in Romeo. Calvin retired from Chrysler Motor Company as a truck driver in 1983 after 30 years of service. He previously worked at the Warren Tank Plant in Warren, MI., and was a well known wet plasterer in northern Macomb County. Calvin also worked many jobs to support his family during his lifetime. He was most proud of his Military career where he served his Country in the Army during WW II in the Asiatic Theatre. After the War, Calvin was active with the Thimm-Harmon Post # 203 in Berville and was active with the Macomb County Ritual Team, helping to give military honors to many Macomb County Veterans. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, riding his bike, and all outdoor activities. Calvin is survived by his wife Nyla of Ray Township, children: Carol (Ronald) Droste of Shelby Township, Daniel (Patricia) Welch of Armada, Judy (Dave) Tingley of Livonia, and Brian (Teresa) Welch of Ray, MI. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and siblings: Sandy Roscoe, Margaret Spooner, Hazel Cook, Archie, Ralph, & Clarence Welch. Calvin was preceded in death by his children: Darlene, Donald, & Robert Welch along with siblings: Norm, Jim, Larry, Irene, & Clara. Funeral services will take place on Monday at 11 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:30 till 8 PM. After burial with Military Honors in Rochester, MI., the family will be having a funeral luncheon at the Faith Freewill Baptist Church in Ray, MI.
