Carl W. Vogel Jr., age 77, a resident of Washington Township since 1994 and previously from Armada/Romeo/Royal Oak, passed away at his home on Friday, December 26, 2014. Carl was born February 28, 1937 in Springfield, Il. The son of Carl W. and Mary (Brondier) Vogel. He married the former Susan Heidi on February 15, 1986 at St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Romeo. Carl retired from General Motors as a design supervisor on September 1, 1991 after 34.2 years of service. He served his country in the National Guard. Carl was the longest serving Romeo Lions Club member serving as its “Tail Twister†for many years. He helped out with the demolition derby during the Peach Festival for the many years that it ran and was a well known announcer during the Peach Festival Parade. He loved all types and models of cars and was well known in the golfing community. He had a golf swing that couldn’t be duplicated. Carl is survived by his wife Susan, children: Tony (Michelle) Vogel of Shelby Twp., Jeff (Sherry) and Mark (Kim) Vogel both of Troy, Chris (Sue) Jones of Temperance, MI., and Ashley (Jesse) Jones of Dallas, TX. Also survived by grandchildren Matt, Anthony, Amada, Zachary, Eva, Nathan, Teddy, Colin, Ewan, Liam, and Henry. Funeral services will take place on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 11 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with Rev. A. Raymond Babin officiating. Visitation will take place on Sunday from 1-8 PM. Donation to the "Leader Dogs" would be appreciated.
