Carol Joy Vito, age 95, of Romeo, went to meet her Lord and Savior on July 9, 2024. Carol was born in Detroit, Michigan, on November 13, 1928 to Walter and Helen (Whatley) Meyer. She was the youngest of four children. She married James M. Herron in 1948 and had three children, Glenn (Judy) Herron, Sheryl Edens, and Linda (David) Sidell. James passed away in 1961, and she married Michael J. Vito in 1965, (Mike’s wife Emma passed away in 1960) and Carol gained four bonus children, Marjorie (Walter) Lerczak, Michael (Mary Ann) Vito, Marilyn (Scott) Styles, and Marie (Steven) Wybo. Mike and Carol became a real-life, popular TV show “Brady Bunch” family. Marjorie and Michael predeceased Carol. She is survived by 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Carol tirelessly worked as a stay at home Mom without complaint. She had a 24 hour open kitchen, always working around everyone’s busy schedule, a great housekeeper, and was always inviting the now even larger extended family for dinners. She was blessed with a beautiful singing voice, and loved to sing in the church choir in her earlier days, besides always being very involved in her churches in both Florida and Michigan. She volunteered her time to Red Cross, Hospice and Habitat for Humanity.
Carol and Mike retired to Florida in 1976, and became managers of Bay Harbor Club Condominiums in Bonita Springs. Michael passed away in 1988, and Carol continued managing until 1990. Carol moved back to Michigan in 2009 to be close to her family.
There will be a Celebration of Life in Carol’s honor at a later date. The family is very grateful for the loving care she received from the staff at Orchard Grove Health Campus.
