Carol S. Akers

Carol S. Akers, age 79, a resident of Almont since 2008, and previously from Florida, passed away on November 19, 2023 at Symphony Linden assisted living. Carol was born May 9, 1944 in Hi Hat, Kentucky, the daughter of Allen L. and Mary (Maglene) Burkett. She married Gordon Akers Sr. on January 26, 1963 in Banner, Kentucky. Carol worked as a nurse’s aide at the Fair Acres Nursing Center in Armada, Michigan for many years, and previously worked at Interstate Manufacturing in Romeo. In her spare time, Carol enjoyed attending Little Zion Church in Ray Township, Michigan, as well as word search games and quilting.

Carol is survived by her children, Jill Eades of Sebring, Florida, Gordon (Katrina) Akers Jr. of Melvin, Kentucky, and Woodrow (Cindy) Akers of Almont, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and sister Alice (Jerry) Sparks. Carol is preceded in death by her son Scottie Lynn Akers, as well as three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 10:00AM, at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, with visitation on Friday November 24, 2023 from 4:00PM-8:00PM, also held at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo, Michigan.
