Catherine M. Hines, an 8-year resident of Romeo, passed away on April 13, 2019 at Troy Beaumont Hospital. She was 91. Catherine was born on May 28, 1927 to August and Clara (Geisler) Bloink. She went to High School in Port Huron and raised her children in St. Clair Shores. During World War II, Catherine worked for the United Service Organization (USO). After the war, she worked for Chrysler and for many years as a switch board operator in Michigan and Florida. Catherine loved roller skating, square dancing, and singing, activities she continued into her 80s. She was in the first group to roller skate across the Blue Water Bridge. Catherine was an avid collector and animal welfare advocate. Her constant enthusiasm and hope brought joy to the people around her. Catherine is survived by her children Patricia (Richard) Leitzel of Romeo, Steven (Kathy) Hines of Romeo, and George Hines of Shelby Township. Grandchildren Stephanie, Dan, James, Rachael, David, and Jeffrey. Great-grandchildren Amelia, Sienna, David, Everly, and Xander. She was predeceased by her son David Hines, grandchild David Barczak, and great-grandchild Lindsey Neville. Visitation will be on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 2 - 9 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 10 AM at St. Clement Catholic Church of Rome (343 South Main Street, Romeo, Michigan 48065). Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
