Charles E. Unger

Charles E. Unger, age 89, a lifelong resident of the Dearborn, Michigan area, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017 at the Wellbridge Nursing Facility in Romeo, Michigan. Charles was born in Detroit on January 17, 1928 the son of Charles C. and Ruth (Monaghan) Unger. Charles graduated from Fordson High School in Dearborn and then attained multiple degree’s in computers, engineering, and in the math fields. He then worked for General Motors and Chrysler Corporation in engineering and moved to General Dynamic’s where he worked for many years engineering the Abram Tank’s. He married Jean Ping who preceded him in death. His hobbies included flying, traveling, going to Japan, and riding his many motorcycles. Charles served his Country in the Marines after WW II. Charles is survived by his sister Barbara Loughlin of Kalamazoo, along with nieces/nephews: Bill, Maureen, Karen, Kathy, & Shawn. Also survived by Jean’s children Ann & Peter and their children Irene & Kathrina, nephew Lu Ping and his lifelong friend Ed Kieda. Chapel services will take place on * at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy. Local arrangements by the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.
