On Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009, Charles H. Coker, a long time resident of Washington Township returned to the arms of the Lord while a patient at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Charles was 79 years old at the time of his passing. Charles graduated from Fort Towson High School in Oklahoma, briefly attended Oklahoma A & M College, served his country in the U. S. Navy as a photographer and completed his work experience in the concrete water pipe manufacturing field, first with “Interpace Corp.” (these were the pipes used to bring water from Port Huron to Detroit that fed all of southeastern Michigan), and then completing his career on the west coast with the Ameron Corp. Charles is survived by his wife OF 52 years, Mary Lou, daughters: Debbie Coker & Karen Mattis of Macomb Twp., and Paula (C.J.) Bottitta of Woodstock, GA., four grandchildren include Meghann Mattis & Amanda Coker both of Macomb Twp., and Kathryn & Joshua Bottitta of Woodstock, GA. Charles was preceded in death by his parents James and Opal Coker and granddaughter Erinn Mattis. Funeral services will take place on Friday, April 17 at 1 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with the Rev. Sherry Schact of the Romeo Congregational Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Washington Township.
