Charles W. Schoeffler

Charles W. Schoeffler, age 85, a 33 year resident of Almont and formerly from St Clair Shores, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Mt Clemens, MI. Charles was born December 24, 1927 in Port Huron, MI., the son of Charles F. and Alma (Sanders) Schoeffler. He married the former Ermgard T. Grapentin on July 3, 1954 in Detroit. Charles was a graduate of the Detroit Institute of Technology with a degree in Engineering. Over the years he worked for the Chrysler Missile factory in Sterling Heights, Continental Motors, and for many years at the General Motors Tech Center in Warren, where he helped in the engineering in many different vehicles and worked for many years on the Corvette’s. He retired in 1998 and then spent more time on his farm in Almont. He had many and varied hobbies, including hunting, fishing, enjoying good food, belonging to the NRA, and best of all, just talking with his many family & friends. Charles also served his country in the Army right after WW II. Charles is survived by his wife Irmgard, children: Rob of Richmond, Indiana, and Iris (Eric) Johnson of Columbiaville, MI. Grandchildren include Robin, RaeAnne & Robert Schoeffler and Charlene & Andrew Johnson. Charles was preceded in death by his son Doug in 2008. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 28 at 11 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with Rev. Ed Gates of the Believer’s Fellowship Church of Lapeer officiating. Visitation will take place on Monday from 3-8 PM. Donations to the Believer’s Fellowship Church would be appreciated.
