Charlie Starek, age 89, a 8 year resident of Romeo, formerly from Florida, passed away on Monday, Feb. 26, 2007 at Troy Beaumont Hospital. Charlie was born March 19, 1917 in Manistee County, MI., the son of Frank and Marie (Ceting) Starek. Charlie worked as a farmer, cook, and with a bank for many years. He served his Country during WW II in the Army. He was a Master Gardener and enjoyed growing and selling vegetables at his daughters house in Washington Twp. Charlie formerly belonged to the Trinty Lutheran Church in Traverse City, MI. Charlie is survived by his wife Faye of Romeo, children: Ralph (Rene) of Traverse City, Charlene (Doug) Hancz and Cheryl (Jeff) Thomas both of Romeo & Juanita (Tom) Kennedy and Tammy (David) Sloan both of Florida. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 11 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with Rev. Lynn Witt of the Family of Christ Lutheran Church of Imlay City officiating. Burial will follow in the Romeo Cemetery.
