Daniel Alberty was born in Washington Indiana August 28, 1944 to Arthur and Helen Alberty (Fitzpatrick). Daniel passed away on August 28, 2012 peacefully at his home. He was preceded in death by his father Arthur and brother William Alberty. He married his wife Kathleen November 25, 1967 at St Sylvester’s Church in Warren. He is survived by his mother Helen Alberty, wife Kathleen, son Daniel, daughter April, and two grandchildren Miranda and Lauren. After graduating from the Detroit Institute of Technology, Dan worked for 31 years for the Defense Contract Audit Agency where he acquired numerous service awards. He met his wife in the Young Adult Club of St. Sylvester. Though his school based knowledge was in the accounting field, he also was knowledgeable in woodworking, computers, and automobiles. He retired from the Agency when he decided to run for the office of Treasurer in Addison Township with the urging of Ray Terry who was retiring. He served as Treasurer for 12 years. Public Service was in Dan’s blood. His grandfather Jessie was Davies County Indiana Treasurer and County Sheriff. While living in Troy, Michigan he was active as a leader in the Boy Scouts. When he moved to Addison Township he became involved in the government by appointment to the Zoning Board of Appeals when he believed the local ordinances did not fit the community in which they were adopted. He became a 4-H Project Leader and was one of the many parents involved in the creation of the Macomb County Horse Grounds on 29 Mile Rd in Ray Township. He was a resident of Addison Township for 29 years building his home from the ground up with help from friends and family. There was nothing more important to him than his family. He has indulged his wife and daughter in their love of horses and dogs while insisting he had no dogs or horses. That love has now been passed onto his granddaughters with his encouragement.
