David M. Smith

David M. Smith, age 60, a 26 year resident of Romeo, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2008 at Troy Beaumont Hospital. David was born June 6, 1947 in Detroit, the son of James M. and Rhea M. (Niles) Smith.  He married Gwynneth (Pixie) Barke in East Detroit in March of 1969.  David earned his Masters Degree from Central Michigan University. He taught automotive related  classes at Central Michigan and at its satellite locations  until 2002.  David worked while teaching as an Manufacturing Engineer at General Motors and retired in a engineering management position with Chrysler Jeep/Truck. His hobbies include being with his grandchildren, being at his cottage with his pontoon boat, his beloved dog T'pol, and his love of Star Trek memorabilia .  David was also a Past Exalter Ruler of the Romeo Elks, #2595, helped with the MCREST ,and member of St John Lutheran Church of Romeo      David is survived by his wife Gwynneth (Pixie) of Romeo, daughter Kimberlie (Ron) Schuchard of Romeo along with grandchildren Sidnie, Steven, & Joseph Morris and Maegan & Ronnie Schuchard.      Funeral services will take place on Thursday at 11 AM at St John Lutheran Church of Romeo with Pastor Mark Evans officiating.  Burial will follow in the Romeo Cemetery. Donations to the Multiple Myeloma would be appreciated.  Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1-9 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo, MI.
