Dawn Joanne Hribar

Dawn Joanne Hribar, age 77, passed away on May 1, 2022 at Cedarbrook of Rochester. Dawn has been a resident of Bruce Township since 1988. Dawn was born in Detroit on June 13, 1944, daughter of Orville Earnest and Ema Minna Matthews (Borke). She graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in 1962 and then worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Detroit for a few years. On September 11, 1965, Dawn married David Michael Hribar in St. Philomena’s Catholic Church in Detroit. They were married for 47 years until David passed away in 2013. Dawn and her family lived in Sterling Heights for 22 years where she did a lot of volunteer work at St. Epherem’s Catholic Church and her sons’ elementary school among others. In 1988, she and her family moved to Bruce Township. Dawn enjoyed sewing, quilting, and collecting vintage Sewing Machines. She also bred, trained, and showed her beloved Schipperke dogs for many years. She and her family were avid RVers and have traveled to every state in the contiguous U.S. and a good part of Canada. Dawn is survived by her two sons, David M. Hribar Jr., and Jeffrey R. Hribar (Theresa), two Grandchildren, Savannah Katherine Hribar and Jacob David Hribar, one brother, Terry D. Matthews, Arizona. Funeral Services will be held on Friday May 6, 2022 at 10a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church. Visitation will take place on Thursday May 5, 2022 at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home from 2-8pm. In Lieu of flowers, the family would like donations sent to St. Clement Catholic Church of Romeo.
