Dawn P. Douglas, age 67, a lifelong Romeo & Washington area resident passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015.  Dawn was born October 18, 1947 in Mt Clemens, Michigan, the daughter of Woodrow W. and Phyllis (Ketchum) Douglas. Dawn graduated from Romeo High School in 1965. She worked as an instrument tech for many years, retiring from Millman Derr Center for Eye Care in Rochester Hills in 2012. She previously worked for local doctors in secretarial duties. But her joy in life was her children, grandchildren, family and friends.  Dawn loved to spend time at her cabin in Houghton Lake, being a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Striber-McVicar Post of Romeo, the Amvets in Armada and being a life member of the Romeo United Methodist Church.  Dawn was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, compassionate daughter, sister and caring friend to all that had the pleasure to meet her. She was one of the most unselfish people you would ever meet and always looked to give credit to others as opposed to shining the spotlight on herself. She will always be remembered in the hearts of everyone she knew as a compassionate, loving person with a joy for life. She has touched everyone she knew and a little piece of Dawn lives on in everyone she has met. She will truly be missed by her family and friends, but will not be forgotten. Dawn is survived by her three children, Brad (Patty) Smiles of Oxford, Shelia Smiles (Andy) of Chesterfield, and Diana Smiles of Kalamazoo; and five grandchildren â€" Abigail, Rebecca, Jacob, Devin, and Jocelyn. Also survived by her brothers Gary (Nancy) Douglas of Washington Township and Wayne (Janet) Douglas of West Branch and her cousins, nieces and nephews. Dawn was preceded in death by her husband’s Buzz Smiles and Bob Jewell. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, January 14 at 11:00 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with Rev. John Ball of the Lake Orion United Methodist Church officiating. Dawn will be buried alongside of her parents at the Lakeville Cemetery in Addison Township. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 13th from 2:00PM-8:00PM. Donations to Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute or to the Romeo United Methodist Church would be appreciated. Visitation: Tuesday, January 13, 2015 2 - 8 PM Malburg Funeral Home 11280 32 Mile Road Romeo, Michigan 48065 Services: Wednesday, January 14, 2015 11 AM At Funeral Home Interment: Lakeview Cemetery Addison Township, Michigan
