Della Ruth Bell

Della Ruth (Womble) Bell a lifelong resident of Romeo, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016, at her home, after a long illness surrounded by her family. Della was born November 24, 1928 in Romeo, Michigan to the late Deacon James Q. Womble and Lessie Womble. Della was united in marriage to Herman Bell Jr. in Romeo on December 14, 1947. Della was a lifelong member of Second Baptist Church, worked as head of the senior and junior Usher Boards, sung in the choir, and worked in the Nurses Guild. Anytime her service was called upon she was always willing to work. Della was a member of the first Rising Star Chapter #52 Easter Star, a member of Civil Rights Community Action Group here in Romeo, past member of N.A.A.C.P. Of Macomb County and member of the 20 Karat Social Club. Della was also a bus driver for Romeo Community Schools. Della is survived by her daughters, Pamela (Clyde) Cushingberry I, Sandra Bell, Darlene (Jerome) Lee, and Kimberly Bell, all of Romeo. Younger sister Sherrie Monroe of Bellville, Michigan, who she helped raise. 11 loving grandchildren, Willetha (Geroge) Ordaz; Leon Nelson; Tonya and Clyde Cushingberry II; Jeffery and Joy Lee; Garrett and Aaliyah Bell. Dear great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A sister-in-law Katherine Shaw of Port Huron, Michigan, very close and dear friends Mother Sylvia Steward and Deacon James Shumpert, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman Bell Jr. Daughters Yvonne Nelson and Patricia Bell; Grandchildren Louis Herman Nelson III, Tyrone Nelson, Siriah Nelson, and Alysah Nelson. Also brothers and sisters Elizabeth Fowler, Robert Womble, Barbara Webb, Clarence Womble I, Fleming Womble, and James Womble. Visitation Wednesday, June 29th from 2 to 8 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, 11280 32 Mile Road, Romeo, Michigan. Funeral Service Thursday, June 30th, 11 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Romeo Cemetery.
