Delores Valerie Melton

Delores Valerie Melton, age 78 passed away on September 24, 2019 while under care at Troy Beaumont Hospital. She was a resident of Bruce Township since 1996. Delores was born October 3, 1940 with a twin brother Donald Ray Hizer in Detroit and was the daughter of Earl Cecil (whom she never met) and Dora Elisabeth (Ridings) Hizer. When she was 12 years old her mother married William (Bill) Wajzer giving her a father she adored and a sister Cheryl who she loved very much. Delores worked as an Electronic Research & Development Engineering Clerk for Westinghouse Numa Logic in Warren, Michigan until they moved out of the state. She continued working as an electronics technician at Henshaw Electric maintaining/designing their electrical panels/controls until she retired. It was there that she met her husband Kenneth Melton. They married on her birthday October 3, 1988 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together , they enjoyed many years of boating, snow mobiling, and traveling. She also enjoyed downhill and cross country skiing. She loved the great outdoors and any activity that took her there. She was particularly fond of her garden of hostas. Delores is survived by her loving husband Kenneth Melton, son, Gerald (Joanna) Kozuch, sister Cheryl (Chris) Hansen, nephews Kyle (Colleen) Scheel, Bellie Scheel, Donald Hezer, Jr., niece Sharon (Harold) Bushway, daughter Linda (Gerald) Mourd, granddaughter LaChelle (William) Patail, great granddaughter, Oaklyn Patail, cousins Terry Belz, Tim Riding, JanVan Duzer, Candace Harvey, wonderful neighbors that have become extended family and friends. She was predeceased in death by her loving Aunt Dee Van Duzer, her parents and five brothers and one sisters. The family also wants to extended extreme gratitude to the devoted doctors, nurses and staff at Troy Beaumont Hospital for the care they gave our beloved Delores. After one day of visitation at the Funeral Home, on Sunday, from 2-8 PM, the services will take place on Monday at 11 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Majeski of Grace Lutheran Fellowship of Bruce Township officiating. Burial will follow in the Romeo Cemetery. A luncheon honoring Delores will follow at Georgio’s Apple Orchard Restaurant.
