Donald A. Daveluy

Donald A. Daveluy, age 89, a 44 year resident of the Romeo area, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan.  Don was born April 21, 1928 in Bristol, Connecticut, the son of Roaul and Laura (Duhaime) Daveluy. Upon Roaul’s early demise, Laura married Rene (Poppy) LaPlante who raised him as his son.  He married his wife Marion Shanahan on October 17, 1953 and she preceded him in death in 1984.   Since 1982, along with his son Ben, founded and operated Total Asphalt Paving in Romeo.  Previous to founding Total Asphalt he worked with Bit-Con/Stolaruk Asphalt  Construction,  in the asphalt manufacturing  business.  His hobbies include playing golf, woodworking, traveling, and spending time with his many children, grandchildren & great grandchildren.     Don is survived by his 7 children:  Irene Kelly-Bower (Dave) Nanette (Charlie) Jones, Ben (Sue) Daveluy, Linda (Leo) Esper, Maureen Rinke, (Gordon) Mary (Keith) Ramsey, and Joyce (Bob) Oliver.  Also survived by 25 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren. Also, predeceased by his siblings, : Irene (John) Keeler, Jane (Art) Kaczor  Joyce LaPlante, and Edward  (Nancy) LaPlante.  Don was also preceded in death by his, great grand-daughter Esme Shuster, and son-in-law Chip Rinke.     Funeral services will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2017  at 10 AM at St Clement Catholic Church in Romeo with burial to follow at the Romeo Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-8 pm and on Friday from 2-8 pm at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.  In Lieu of Flowers, Donations to St Jude’s Children Hospital would be appreciated.
