Donald E. Riss

Donald E. Riss, age 81, of Shelby Twp., formerly of Sterling Heights, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy. Don was born Dec. 5, 1928 in Roseville, MI., the son of Edmund and Margaret (Bach) Riss. He married Mary Ann Racz on June 1, 1957 at St Clement Catholic Church, Romeo. Don was currently working at the MISD in the custodial department. He previously worked at Twist Drill in Rochester, at Divco Truck in Warren and as a chemist at Armada Rubber. Don was a Veteran of the Korean War and was a Life Member of the Disco Post #4659. Along with his wife, he was a member of St Therese Lisieux Catholic Church in Shelby Twp. His hobbies include fishing, playing cards, all type of sporting events, and ice skating when he was younger. Don is survived by his wife Mary Ann of Shelby Twp., daughters: Robin (Paul) Van De Velde of Rochester, MI., and Lisa (Steven) Bach of Almont. Grandchildren include Nicole, Jordon, Ciara, Lauren, and Brandon. Also survived by his brother Jerry (Joan)Riss of Bear Lake, MI. and his sister Judy (Carl) Propotnik of Texas. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 23 at 10 AM at St Therese Lisieux Catholic Church (48115 Schoenherr, between 21 & 22 Mile Road) in Shelby Twp with burial to follow at the Romeo Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-9 at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan. Donations to the American Lung Association would be appreciated. Visitation: on Tuesday from 2-9 PM on Wednesday from 9:30 AM till the Mass starts at 10 AM Services: Mass at 10 AM Wednesday Interment: Burial at the Romeo Cemetery.
