Donald J. Schmidt

Donald J. Schmidt, 71, 42 year resident of Romeo passed away peacefully on August 6, 2018 at Crittenton Hospital. Donald was born on December 7,1946 to Joseph and Dorothy (Zimmer) Schmidt in Detroit. In 1966 he married Marcia Lee in Warren, Michigan. Donald was known as an expert carpenter working for Custom Drywall and Turner Brooks. He also spent many years actively volunteering for the Bruce Township Fire Department. Donald enjoyed spending time with his family and going to his grandchildren's sporting events as their #1 fan. He also enjoyed boating, fishing and going to his cabin also known as his “happy place.” Donald is survived by his wife Marcia (Lee) Schmidt of Romeo, daughters; Marisa (Anthony) Bellas of Romeo, Tracy (Larry) Myers of Romeo, Suzanne (Suzie)(Jeff) Huard of Lansing, and Annette (Chris) Giancarli of Romeo. Grandchildren; Andrew (Brittany) Huard, Zachary (Kristina) Bellas, Alex (Hannah) Huard, Jacob (Lexie) Bellas, Marina Myers, Alexandra Bellas, Brendan Myers, Gillian and Dominic Giancarli. Great-grandchildren; Myles and Baby sis Huard as well as Donald’s sister Carolyn Walden. In Lieu of flowers please consider donations to the family. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 at St. Clement Catholic Church at 10 AM Visitation will be at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home on August 9, 2018 from 2pm-8pm. The family would like to invite family and friends to share memories of Donald at 7pm on Thursday at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home.
