Donnie D. Gotta, age 80, a resident of Romeo since 1973 and formerly from Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2014 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan. Don was born on April 27, 1934, in Melcher, Iowa, the son of Andrea and Asunta (Logli) Gotta. He married the former Norma Dittmer on June 3, 1961 in Rosemount, Iowa. Don then moved, along with his family, from Iowa to the Romeo area to work at the Ford Motor Company tractor plant. Upon retiring, Don enjoyed all types of sporting events, especially Iowa Hawkeye football and Detroit Tiger games. Always quick with a smile and a story, Don will forever be remembered by his friendly nature as he walked around town talking to all he met. Don is survived by his beloved wife Norma (Dittmer), children: David (Jennifer) Gotta of Royal Oak, MI & Diane Jacobi of Northville, MI. Grandchildren include Andrew, Anthony, Luke, and Daniel. Also by one sister Angie (Don) Warner. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, September 9 at 10 AM at St Clement Catholic Church of Romeo with burial to follow at the Bruce-Armada Cemetery in Romeo. Visitation will be on Monday from 3-8 with a rosary by the Knights of Columbus, Council # 7018 at 7:30 PM. Donations to the Henry Ford Hospice would be appreciated.
