Dorothea L. Maurus

Dorothea L. Maurus, age 97, a 3 year resident of the Wynwood Assisted Living in Utica and formerly from the Romeo area, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Dorothea was born December 28, 1915 in Detroit, the daughter of Otto and Louise (Stetzer) Triebe. She married Anthony (Tony) Maurus and he preceded her in death on November 23, 1996. Dorothea worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s trucking company for many years, was a cook at the East Bethlehem Lutheran Church School in Detroit, and did many secretarial jobs over the years. Dorothea is survived by her daughter Karen (Dennis) Fletemier of Romeo along with grandchildren Connie Gregersen, Larry (Debbie) Fletemier and Brad (Lindsay) Fletemier. Also survived by great grandchildren Adam, Kirsten, Lauren, Charlotte, & Virginia and was preceded in death by her siblings: Ruth Monrad, Eleanor Malchie, Fred and Russ Tribe. Funeral services will take place on Sunday, May 26 at 6 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with Rev. Eric Majeski of Grace Lutheran Fellowship of Romeo officiating. Visitation will also be on Sunday from 1-6 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, Michigan. Donations to Season’ Hospice or the Wynwood Assisted Living in Utica would be appreciated.
