Dorothy M. Compton, age 103, a lifelong Romeo area resident, passed away on Friday, Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Angelica’s Place Assisted Living. Dorothy was born April 20, 1911 in Roseville, MI., the daughter of Martin and Matilda (Schroeder) Hagedorn. She married Clifford Compton in 1928 at St John Lutheran Church of Romeo and he preceded her in death in 1990. Dorothy worked as an accountant/bookkeeper for her husband Clifford and son Ed at “Compton Sand & Gravel†in Washington Township. She, along with her family, were longtime members of St John Lutheran Church where she was active with the choir, taught Sunday school, with the Ladies Aid group, and helped with many funeral luncheons. She was known as an excellent seamstress, loved to travel with their travel group, (GMC Great Lakes Travel Club) and spend their winters in Florida. Dorothy is survived by her children: Dorothy Tyler of Grand Rapids, Ruth (Marvin) Kloock of Romeo, and Ed (Betty) Compton of Romeo. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 26 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford, sister Helen Kegler and brother Herbert Hagedorn. Funeral services will take place on Monday at 11 AM at St John Lutheran Church of Romeo with Rev. Mark Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Romeo Cemetery. Donations to St John Lutheran Church would be appreciated. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-8 at the Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.
