Douglas Ernest Meissner, age 81, passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on Wednesday March 26, 2025 under the care of the loving staff at Vista Springs Washington Place. Doug was born in Highland Park Michigan on November 10, 1943 and spent his childhood and raised his family is Romeo. Later in life he moved to Dearborn and returned to Romeo in 2021.
Doug graduated from Romeo High School in 1962. After High School he joined the United States Air Force where he served from 1962-1968. Doug was employed by Ford Motor Company and retired after 34 years. He was on the Romeo/Bruce Fire Department for many years. Doug was active with the St. Clement of Rome Men’s Club. He enjoyed coaching his kids softball and baseball teams in the Romeo and Washington area. Doug was very involved with the Romeo High School Booster Club. He Served on the Armada Fair Board where he managed the “beverage” tent. Doug also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, sitting on his front porch having cocktails and going to the casino. He and Janice loved going on cruises.
Doug is survived by his children Julie(Jim) Woodward, Jeff(Andria) Meissner, Brad(Collette) Meissner and step children Tara(Gary)Chow, Richard McQuesten and Lance McQuesten; grandchildren Austin(Alaina), Savannah(Chris), Travis(Riley Alexander), Jakob(Sami Willing), Allison(Kyle Losinski), Blake, Zachary, Brooklynn, Cole, Ty, Sasha, Dakota, Kingsley, Giavanna and Mason; and great-grandchildren Addison and Beau. He is also survived by many sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Doug also left behind his loving cats and faithful companions Charmin and Snuggles.
Doug was preceded in death by his wife Janice in 2020 and sister Nancy Pocobello in 2021.
Funeral Services will be private per Doug’s wishes.
