Dr. Robert Sik-Siang Lie, age 89, a 45 year resident of Romeo passed away on Monday, May 22, 2107 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. Robert was born February 18, 1928 in Sumatra, Indonesia, the son of Jayson and Fong-Tji Lie. Robert started his undergraduate work at Bob Jones University in Greenfield, South Carolina after migrating to the United States. He completed his bachelor’s degree at Wayne State University, then undertook his Medical degree from Gronnigen University in the Netherlands in 1966. On June 27, 1964 in Troy, Michigan he married Gloria Klemm. He had a medical practice in the Village of Romeo located at Tilson Street and Main Street from 1973 to 2004. One of Robert’s passions were medical mission trips, he was the founder and CEO of Wesleyan Medical Missions. He has taken medical mission teams to third world countries around the world since 1992. The teams would treat 5000+ people each trip. He also enjoyed working in his garden, playing soccer, and basketball. Robert is survived by his wife loving wife Gloria, five children: Jeannie (Dave) Chen, Lyndon Lie, Larry Lie, Lance (Sadie) Lie, Lisa Lie (Bill Vance), and seven grandchildren: Justina Chen, Christina Chen, Christopher Chen, Branden (Janelle) Lie, Jessica Lie, and Shane Lie. His remaining siblings are: Paul (Ada) Lie of WI, David (Pheobe) Lee of WI, Lydia Wang of MN, Janet (Barry) An of GA, and Sue (Bill) Jeng of Tiawan. Funeral services will take place on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 11 AM at Stoney Creek Community Church (11711 26 Mile Road, Washington Michigan 48094). Visitation will be on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 2 to 8 at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Wesleyan Medical Missions, Please make checks payable to Stoney Creek Community Church.
