Edith J. Kaiser

Edith J. Kaiser, age 80, a 36 year resident of Washington Township and previously from Royal Oak, MI., passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at her home. Edith was born July 26, 1930 in Detroit, the daughter of Henry and Mabel (Smith) Miller. She married Melvin D. Kaiser on October 8, 1949 at Greenfield Methodist Church in Detroit. Edith worked for over 25 years in phone sales for the Sear’s catalog department at the Oakland Mall. After Melvin and Edith retired, they loved to travel. They spent 9 years in Gulf Shores, Alabama, and took trips to England, France, Spain, and Ireland. Her hobbies include reading, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. Edith is survived by her husband Melvin in Washington Township, children: Elizabeth (Tim) Smith of Harrison, MI., and Paul (Jan) Kaiser of Rochester Michigan. Grandchildren include Erin & Andrea Smith and Mitchell & Nathan Kaiser. Siblings include Harry Miller of Livonia, MI., Bill (Kandy) Miller of Pittsburg, PA., and John Miller (Virginia) of Venice, Florida. Funeral service will take place on Thursday at 11 AM with the Rev. Jeremy McLoud of Guardian Angels Hospice officiating with burial at Mt Vernon Cemetery in Washington Township. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:30 till 11 AM, the time of service.
