Edward Buckley

October 17, 1925 — March 22, 2013

Edward Buckley, age 87, a 2 1/2 year resident of Richmond and formerly a longtime resident of Ray Township, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township. Edward was born October 17, 1925 in Grand Rapids, MI., the son of Frank and Francis (Siekierka) Buckley. He married the former Velma Susan Mikowski on December 12, 1947 in Detroit and she preceded him in death on June 21, 2009. Ed worked in the dry wall business for many years, working for many companies in the Detroit area. He belonged to the Painters Union, District Council # 22 in Warren, MI. He was most proud to serve in the Navy during WW II earning a Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern area campaign Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. Upon retirement, Ed enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting. Edward is survived by his children: David (Laurie) Buckley of Richmond, Michael Buckley of Memphis and Suzanne (Mike) Shamaly of Macomb, MI. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren along with siblings: Bob & Judy Buckley, Jerry & Sally Buckley, Ron and Janette Buckley, Henry Buckley, Shirley & Ed Rhan, Betty & Craig Woolverton and Norman Buckley. Ed was preceded in death by siblings: Pearl, Tom, Jim, & Dick. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, March 26 at 1 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with Rev. Jeffrey Draeger of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Washington officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10 AM till 1 PM. Donations to Henry Ford Hospice would be appreciated.
