Edward J. Mcniff

Edward J. McNiff, age 85, a 48 year resident of Romeo and formerly from Boston, South Africa, Canada, and was raised in Ireland, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township. Edward was born April 22, 1927 in New Castle County Down, Northern Ireland, the son of Edward and Bridget (Farnan) McNiff. He married the former Eileen Rowlands in November of 1964 in Boston, and she preceded him in death on May 28, 2011. Ed was a longtime electrician for General Motors at the Tech Center in Warren and retired in the early 1990’s. Upon retirement, he enjoyed golfing and fly fishing. Ed is survived by his daughter Sarah (John) Haning of Romeo along with grandchildren: Kyle, Jonathan, Derek, and Warren. Also survived by his sister Rita (Tom) O’Rourke of Australia and sister-in-laws Anna & Gertie NcNiff. Ed was preceded by his siblings Maureen, John, and Patrick. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, September 20 at 8 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with Rev. Stacy Salles of St Paul’s Episcopal Church of Romeo officiating. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 1:30 PM till 8 PM.
