Edward L. Walla

Edward L. Walla, age 78, a resident of Washington Township passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan. Ed was born October 9, 1938 in Detroit, the son of Edward and Katherine (Patrias) Walla. Ed married Lucille Luksik on February 6, 1960 at St Anne’s Catholic Church in Warren, Michigan. After working as a draftsman for many years, Ed started working for Washington Township in 1974 and worked there till he retired in 2008. While working for Washington Township, he worked as its Superintendent of Maintenance, Constable, Ordinance officer and Cemetery Sexton. Along with his family they were active in antique tractors and belonged to the Model T Ford Club International (MTFCI) and served on its board. Also with his family, they were longtime members of St Clement Catholic Church of Romeo and belonged to both the 3rd Degree and 4 Degree of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 7018. Ed is survived by his wife Lucille, children: Phyllis (John) Catania of Delaware Ohio, Lawrence (Sharon) of Washington Township, Brian (Michele) of Imlay City, and Jeffrey (Katherine) of Leonard, MI. Grandchildren include Brett, Brittany, Andrew, Stephanie, Jeffrey Jr., Samantha, Matthew, Kristina, Tyler, Jake, Bryanna, and Jessica. Siblings surviving include Marie (Robert) Campbell of Troy, Victor (Lynette) of Shelby Township, Katherine of Macomb Twp., Leonard (Debra) of Sterling Heights, Alice (Donald) Lyon of Sterling Heights, and was preceded in death by his sister Lucille Lincoln. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, December 28 at 10 AM at St Clement Catholic Church of Romeo with burial to follow at the Mt Vernon Cemetery in Washington Township. Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 2-8 with a 7 PM Rosary by the Knights of Columbus at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.
