Elinor F. Caldwell, age 86, a 33 year resident of Almont and formerly from Romeo, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the home of Gene & Sandy in Romeo. Elinor was born February 10, 1925 in Detroit, the daughter of Antille and Zoe (Delmonte) LeCluyse. She married Orville Caldwell on January 24, 1953 and he preceded her in death in October of 1978. Elinor retired from Interstate Manufacturing in Romeo in the early 1980’s. She previously worked at Hurd Lock in Almont. Upon retirement, she was a caregiver for many children and adults in the Almont/Romeo areas. Her hobbies include doing puzzels, being with her grandkids, especially watching her granddaughters play softball, and helping anybody that needed help. Elinor is survived by her sons: Ray (Donna) Caldwell of Eubank, Kentucky and Gene (Sandy) Caldwell of Romeo. Also survived by her grandchildren Molly Caldwell, Melissa (Eric) Ballew, Nicole (fiancé Jon Swigert) Caldwell, and her great grandson Jack Ballew. She was survived by her sister Alice Thormann of Memphis and preceded by her son Jim and siblings: Marcel, Gilbert, Albert, & Victor LeCluyse, Betty Slankster, and Mary Bauman. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 2-9 and on Friday from 10 AM till 11:30 AM when a religious service with Pastor Steve Barkey of the Orchard Ridge Church of the Nazarene officiating will take place. A funeral luncheon will follow at the Romeo VFW and burial of ashes will take place Saturday at 1 PM at Ferguson Cemetery in Almont. Arrangements by the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.
