Emily Griffin, 89, passed away on August 8, 2020 in Romeo, Michigan, following her 10-year journey with Alzheimer’s disease. Emily was born April 13, 1931, in Watervliet, Michigan to Emmanuel (Emil) and Justina (Frank) Eisbrenner, one of 10 children. Before moving to the Romeo area in 2015, Emily spent most of her lifetime in the Watervliet/Coloma area. She married Wayne Griffin in 1950, living in Oklahoma and South Dakota while Wayne served in the United States Air Force. While raising her children, Emily worked at VM Corporation, then later retiring from Avion Coach, in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She loved spending time in Winter Haven, Florida during the winter months, singing in the church choir, making potato salad for family gatherings, and most of all spending time with family. Emily was proud of her German heritage. She played the accordion as a young woman, and enjoyed traveling to polka festivals, especially Frankenmuth, Michigan. Emily was a longtime member of Salem Lutheran Church in Coloma, Michigan and Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Joseph, Michigan. Emily is survived by her sons Gary (Sue) Griffin of Coloma, Michigan and Jeff (Shannon) Griffin of Romeo, Michigan; grandchildren Patrick (Alaina), Anna (Mack) Gabriel, and Michael (Michelle); and 3-week old great-granddaughter Josie Faye. Also survived by her sister Carolyn Sempert, sister-in-law Dolores Eisbrenner, and brother-in-laws Bill Griffin and Fred (Char) Griffin; also many beloved nieces and nephews. Emily was predeceased by her husband Wayne in 2000, and siblings Elsie, Martha, Bill, Emil, Emma, and Dick; also infant siblings Benny and Adeline. Visitation will be held at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Joseph, Michigan on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Joseph, Michigan.
