Eudell Gene “Jake” Jacobsen, age 87 passed away on July 3, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. His mother named him Eudell, but most people called him Jake. He was born on October 26, 1934 in Dannebrog,NE and grew up in Ogallala, NE where he excelled as a scholar-athlete. Jake graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in mechanical engineering. Before leaving Nebraska, he fell madly in love and married Delores (Dee) Piller. They were happily married for 32 years and had 4 amazing children who were his pride and joy. He moved to Michigan to work for General Motors. He found his dream job and rose through the ranks, becoming an automotive executive. He loved his work and retired from GM after 41 years, having made significant contributions to the development of aluminum engine design. After the death of his first wife, Jake was fortunate enough to fall head-over-heels in love again and married Dianne. He became a “father” to her two daughters. Jake and Dianne were blessed to have 32 years together. Jake was a leader in his church and community. He served as the president of his church and of the Romeo School Board for many years. His larger-than-life presence, vast knowledge, quick wit,work ethic, and wisdom drew people to him. He added to the life of every person who had the pleasure and honor of knowing him. He has left an indelible mark on so many lives. Jake enjoyed wood-working, singing in the church choir, and spending winters in AZ. In the twilight of his life, he was blessed again with amazing caregivers. He loved and valued “his girls,” Rebecca and Paige. He is survived by his wife, Dianne, 4 children –Lori (Don) Walker, Linda (Jim) Ball, Jon (Kathleen), and Julie (Tim) Rashid, 2 step-daughters, Melissa (Steve) Widenhofer and Aimee (Ben)Woods, 19 grandchildren,7 great-grandchildren, and his brother, Lowell (Karen). Memorial contributions may be directed to the Myasthenia Gravis Association of Michigan, Samaritan House in Romeo, or Shepherd’s Gate Church in Shelby Township. Funeral services will take place on Thursday July 7, 2022 at 2 pm with pastor Craig Meyer. Visitation will take place from 11 to 2. Burial will take place at the Romeo Cemetery.
