Eugene F. Orzel

September 17, 1926 — June 29, 2014

Orzel is the Polish word for eagle, and on the night of June 29th an eagle flew amongst the clouds one last time. Eugene Orzel, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by the loving comfort of close family. Having served honorably in the U.S. Air force during World War II, Gene fell in love with flying. Any time he talked about it his eyes were bright with excitement, and even after selling his plane he would spend several hours a week flying on his flight simulator on the computer. On the ground, Gene loved to work with his mind, and loved to dabble in a variety of hobbies. Given the time and materials, he could build almost anything out of wood. Gene also loved music, and even taught himself how to play the harmonica, violin, and the piano. He even built himself a piano out of wood, with a built in holder for his tablet so that it would be easier for him to learn with. Above all else, he was kind, loving, and he absolutely enjoyed meeting new people. May he find eternal rest and peace with his beloved wife Frances. He is survived by his daughter Denise and her husband Norman, his daughter Deborah and her husband Mike, his son Eric and his fiancée Felicia, as well as his five grandchildren who were always taught something new every time they saw him.
