Frank J. Pichler, age 82, a 61 year resident of Washington Township, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013 at the Shelby Nursing Center. Frank was born July 27, 1930 in Detroit, the son of John & Mary (Hess) Pichler. On March 29, 1952 he was united in marriage to the former Irma Knittel at the military base in Mineral Wells, Texas. Along with his brother-in-law Otto Knittel and their families, they were the founders/owners/operators of “Otto & Frank†Deli in Washington Township from 1964-1999. Upon retirement, Frank enjoyed playing bingo, going to casinos, playing pinochle, watching the Red Wings, enjoyed cutting grass, and his gift of gab will always be remembered. Frank served his Country proud during the Korean War while serving in the Army. Frank is survived by his wife Irma, children: Frank Jr. (Jenine) of Washington Twp., Lisa (Tom) Westlake, Ron (Heidi) & Donna (Brian) Peters all of Bruce Township. Frank is also survived by 11 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings John and Margie. Memorial services will take place on Sunday, June9 from 1-6 PM with a 5:30 PM religious service at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo. Donations to the Romeo Senior Citizens would be appreciated.
