Gary Frappier, 70, of Romeo, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on October 10, 2022, surrounded by his wife and family.
Gary graduated from Romeo High School in 1970, and went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University in 1974. He spent the majority of his professional career as an automotive sales rep, and because of his diagnosis of ALS, he chose to retire in 2019.
Gary spent his Michigan summers playing golf with many of his good friends, and was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church Golf League for over 40 years. He and his partner Kenny Klanke finally won the league’s coveted first place trophy in 2019. Gary also enjoyed traveling, history, and a nightly dose of trivia while watching Jeopardy. He loved to soak up the sunshine and was always able to find the positives in every person and situation; hence his well-earned nickname “Gary the Good.”
Gary was truly one of a kind, and he will be dearly missed and always remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
Gary was predeceased by his father, Charles Frappier; stepmother, Elaine Frappier; and his stepfather, Charles Wilburn.
Gary is survived by his wife, Diana Frappier; his mother, Shirley Wilburn; his daughters, Erica Maurer (Andrew) and Andrea Parker (Ryan); and his stepdaughters, Annalisa Vollick (Eddie), Adrienne Hayes (Zack), and Domenica LaMilza. He is also survived by his nine beautiful grandchildren, Hayden and Vivian Maurer, Allison and Ben Parker, Layne and Lennon Vollick, and Harrison, Josephine and Elijah Hayes. Step-Sisters, Charlene (Larry) Liggett, Lynn (Wayne) Tindol,
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022, from 1:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home in Romeo, MI. Gary also requested a Celebration of Life party be held in his honor as opposed to a traditional funeral. He wanted all of his friends and family to honor him with love, laughter, and camaraderie. We would love to have you join us in celebrating his remarkable life and legacy at an open house at Palazzo Grande in Shelby Twp., MI, on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
We encourage everyone to wear something that would put a smile on Gary's face! Your favorite island-inspired shirt, some WMU gear, golf attire, or your favorite Cowboy/Western-wear is encouraged! Light appetizers will be served as well as endless wine and, of course, Gary’s favorite, gin and tonic.
In lieu of flowers, we ask you to consider donating to the Michigan chapter of the ALS Foundation.
