Gary Orr

It is with heavy hearts to announce the death of Gary Lee Orr of Romeo on April 20, 2024. He was 80 years old.

Gary was born on January 2, 1944, in Almont, Michigan. He graduated from Romeo High School in 1962. Gary married the love of his life, Sharon Hagedorn, on April 10, 1965. They welcomed their first child Melissa in 1967 and another daughter, Melinda, in 1969. He worked at General Motors for 27 years and retired in 1995.

Gary is survived by his wife Sharon, daughters Melissa Hochstein (Kurt) and Melinda Orr, 3 grandchildren, Nicole (Jim), Tara (Ethan), and Lauren (Josh), 3 great-grandchildren Olivia, Harrison, Benjamin and another to be born in September. He is preceded in death by his parents Alton and Ruth Orr and his three older siblings.

Gary was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching the Detroit Red Wings, Lions, Tigers, and the University of Michigan Wolverines. He loved growing his own tomatoes, enjoying Coca-Cola from McDonalds, playing Euchre, hunting, fishing, and had a sarcastic sense of humor. Gary was notorious for spoiling his dog Izzie. He attended St. John’s Lutheran Church of Romeo and was involved with the Men’s Club.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 2-8pm at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home in Romeo, MI.

Funeral Service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church (246 Benjamin St. Romeo, MI 48065) on Friday, April 26, 2024 with a short visitation from 10-11am, service will begin at 11am.
