Genevieve Spehar, 82 died at Heartland Oakland Medical Center in Troy on Tuesday morning, June 23, 2009. She was born in Baltic, a daughter of the late Daniel and Anna (Ziegler) Crowley. She moved with her family to Painesdale at an early age and lived there until her marriage to Fred Spehar on May 11, 1946. The couple moved to the Lower Peninsula in 1950, returning to the Hancock Canal area of the U.P. in 1987 to make their home. Fred died in 2003. She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock. Her great joy in life was to be with her family, being a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Trbovich of Washington Twp., Romeo, Mich.; a son, Robert Spehar of Clinton Twp., Mich.; grandsons, Scott (Bridget) Trbovich and Todd (Lori) Trbovich; great-grandchildren, Abbey, Lily and Tommy; sisters-in-law, Fran Kivimaki, Ann Chopp and Bernice Spehar; brother-in-law, Sherman Gauthier; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Tom Trbovich; sisters, Margaret Andrene, Alvina Hall, Ann Oulette, Elenore Cor, Nellie McCarthy and Mary Gauthier; and her brothers, Edward and Daniel Crowley. A memorial service will be held at 12 noon July 6, 2009 at St. Clement Catholic Church of Romeo.
