Gerald E. Halker

Gerald E. Halker, age 83, a resident of the Romeo area since 1977, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan after a long battle with cancer. Jerry was born April 21, 1936 in Detroit, the son of Harold and Evelyn (Froh) Halker.  He was a self-employed Entrepreneur in the Romeo area, establishing a video rental business, arcades, Real Estate Sales, and anything else that he could “Buy low and sell high.” Along with his family, they were long time members of St. Clement Catholic Church and formerly belonging to the Romeo Kiwanis Club and Romeo Elks Club.   His hobbies included going to casinos, coin collecting, and enjoying time with his many friends in the Romeo area.    Jerry is survived by his children:  Mark (Lisa) Halker of Washington Township, Debbie (Dave) Hajski of Almont, Karen (Bill) Krause of Washington Township & Michael Halker of Lake Orion.  Also survived by 8 grandchildren (Amanda, Joshua, Paige, Jacob, Matthew, Kelli, Audrey, Will), and 2 great grandchildren (Cameron & Wesley), and the mother of his children Elaine (Densen) Kotkowski.     Visitation will be Sunday, January 19th from 2:30 PM—6:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 4:00 PM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home located at 11280 32 Mile Rd, Romeo, MI 48065.  In lieu of flowers, donations to American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
