Giovanni John Iacono, age 77, of Almont, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at his home. John was born September 24, 1930 in Ponza, Italy, the son of the late Ciro Iacono & Olimpia Feola. John came to the United States while working as a merchant marine in 1955. He married the former Felicia Randolph on October 25, 1958 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Detroit. John worked for Ford Motor Company for 11 years and retired in 1984 from the Romeo Ford Tractor. Along with his family, they purchased Troia Place in Almont in 1974 and run the business until 1994. He then owned Giovanni Pizza & Pasta in Washington Twp. for 6 years. Upon retirement, he enjoyed gardening, being with his family & friends, and exercising. John is survived by his wife Felicia, children: Laura (Carl) Volante of Dryden, Rose (Mike) Deering of Romeo, Linda (Chris) Hunt of Warren, Jennifer (Bob) Benaglio of Dryden, & John Iacono of Washington Twp. Grandchildren include Carla, Mario, & Geno Volante, Antonia Iacono, Giancarlo & Mariesa Deering, and Samantha & Robert Benaglio. Also survived by his brother Domenico Iacono & his sister Francesca Musella both of Italy. His sister-in-laws Sylvia Swiecki & Gloria Randolph survive. He was preceded in death by his great grandchildren Dominic & Gina Iacono along with his 2 brothers Ciro & Silverio. Funeral services will take place on Saturday at 11 AM at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home of Romeo with Fr. Jerry Kessel officiating. Burial will follow in Mt Pleasant Cemetery in Dryden. Donations to the Lapeer County Animal Shelter would be appreciated. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 6-9 and on Friday from 1-9 with 7 PM Rosary at the Funeral Home. Visitation: Visitation Times Thurs 6-9 & Fri 1-9 Malburg Funeral Home
