Gordon J. Mcbride

Gordon J. McBride, age 91, a resident of the Romeo area since 1972 and previously from Detroit, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy. Gordon was born August 23, 1922 in Toronto, Canada, the son of Charles and Francis (Pember) McBride. After serving proudly in the Navy during WW II, Gordon worked at the General Motor Tech Center as a Senior Service Engineer for 33 years before retiring in 1987. He then did contract work for Balance Engineering of Troy. He attended the University of Detroit for 3 years and upon retiring, enjoyed woodworking, reading, exercising, doing cross word puzzles, and being active in St Clement Catholic Church, member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #7018, and the Romeo Senior Citizens. He was a firm believer in positive thinking. Gordon is survived by his children Mark of Dryden, Judi McBride of Milan, Mary (Peter) Cullinan of Sterling Heights and Kathleen (Tony) Messina of Shelby Township. Grandchildren include Nathan, Tenille, Scott,& Ross and great grandchildren include Mason & Dylan. Gordon was preceded in death by his wife’s Jean W. “Connors”& Yong Hui, and siblings Joseph, Richard, Mickey, Eugene, Delores Stewart and Helen McBride. Funeral services will take place on Monday at 10 AM at St Clement Catholic Church of Romeo. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-8 with a 7 PM rosary by the Knights of Columbus, Council # 7018. Donations to the Maryknoll Missionaries would be appreciated.
