Harold Don Kaupp

Harold “Don” Kaupp, age 79, a 40 year resident of Almont, previously from Shelby Township and winters in Nettles Island, Florida, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013 at his home. Don was born July 14, 1933 in Flint, the son of Frederick and Vena (Walker) Kaupp. Don and Mary Ann (Kalfs) just celebrated their 60 wedding anniversary on January 17. They were married January 17, 1953 at St Agnes Catholic Church in Flint. Don retired in 1998 as the owner/operator of C & D Gage (wood pattern maker) in Rochester, MI. He also was owner/operator of J & D Hoist of Almont, owner/operator of the Town & Country Bar in Bruce Twp., worked at Sherwood Pattern as a Pattern Maker, and when younger, worked at Pontiac Motors. Don is survived by his wife Mary Ann of Almont, children: Ann (Joe) Ayotte of Hampton, Virginia, Carol Lauinger of Waterford, and Richard (Maria) Kaupp of Metamora. Grandchildren include Eric (Takami) Cain, Keith, Matthew, & Brian Ayotte, and Dustin (Jennie), Ian, & Mikaela Kaupp. One great grandchild Noki Cain survives along with siblings: Jerry (Nancy) Kaupp of Grand Blanc, Betty (Jerry) Powers, Shirley Towns, & Ruth (Walt) Blaine all live in Clio and Connie (Ronnie) Jacobs also of Grand Blanc. Don was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Michael Lauinger and sister Marjorie Kaupp. Funeral service are private. Arrangements by the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.
